The Allatoona Lake Project Management Office is accepting reservations for its campsites for the 2018 camping season. In the past, approximately 10 percent of the project’s campsites were available only on an in-person, first-come, first-serve basis.
McKinney Campground, which is open year-round, is accepting reservations for all of its campsites. Reservations for the remaining campsites at Allatoona Lake can be made up to six months prior to- the opening date of the campsite for the 2018 camping season. Some sites open in March, and others open in May.
“Project officials hope that by taking reservations in advance for all campsites, it will provide the public with more predictability,” U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said in a prepared statement.
Allatoona Lake features eight campgrounds with 576 campsites for public use. Each campground offers a wide range of campsites. Campgrounds offer amenities that include group picnic shelters, swimming beaches, playgrounds, boat ramps, showers and restrooms, coin laundry and basketball courts.
To make reservations, go to Recreation.gov, or call 1-877-444-6777. Patrons still can reserve a campsite on a same-day, walk-in basis, pending availability.
