Corporal Youlanda D. McIntosh
Community Affairs Officer/PIO (Public Information Officer)
What is your main responsibility?
I wear many hats. As the community affairs officer, my main responsibility is to build relationships and partnerships in our community.
As the PIO, I correspond with the media and social media to keep the community abreast of events, situations, programs, etc., that are taking place in Acworth.
What do you like most about your job?
I get to meet new people in the Acworth community on a daily basis.
When were you hired, and what is your background?
I was hired as a detention officer in June of 2008. I have an associate degree in microcomputer specialist, and a technical certificate as CISCO specialist and phlebotomy. I was [on] Military Police duty [in the] Army and served in the Air National Guard as a phlebotomist.
What are your goals?
My goal for this job is to obtain my bachelor’s degree and be promoted to sergeant. I hope to pass along this position to another officer, so that they, too, can see the family of community relationships and partnerships.
What’s the biggest surprise to you about your job?
It taught me that I am a people person.
Tell us about your family and hobbies.
I am recently married to my husband, Khalil. Between the two of us, we have six adult children. I have two grandchildren. In my spare time, I like to shoot pool (learning) and learn about real estate. I have had my real estate license since 2006, but have only sold here and there. I want to put my license to better use. I recently transferred my license to Anchor Realty Partners, with Malinda Howe. I am looking forward to learning a lot from her!
