The farmers market: it’s where you go for the freshest fruits, vegetables, meats, sweets and other items such as homemade soaps and candles. You write a list of what you’re going for, and pretend you don’t have other items in the back of your mind that you’re secretly hoping they have (homemade caramel cake, please). You put your grocery totes in your car and open up part of your morning to make the trip each Friday.
It’s one of the best perks of living in a small town.
We’re impressed with the selection our farmers market has to offer. Just look at this list -and it’s all locally grown/made!
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Plants
- Jams & Jellies
- Fresh Baked Goods – Bread, Cakes, Cookies & Pies
While we have many returning vendors each week (vendor spots are free), you never know what new item you’ll find each week. It’s some great foodie fun!
Ways to maximize the farmers market:
- Use it as an excuse to try some of those recipes on your Pinterest board.
- Pick one new item to try each week. Whether it’s a dessert or produce.
- Take your kids and teach them about healthy eating and how important it is to shop local.

Be sure to pack your tote bags! We also suggest applying SPF before you go since it’s an outside event and no one likes to get sunburned. Wear comfortable shoes -you’d be surprised how much time you can spend browsing around! Take a friend or family member and have fun!
