A new center for art exhibition and education is open in Acworth.
Art at the Park House — named for its proximity to Logan Farm Park — is the centerpiece of a recently approved nonprofit, the Acworth Arts Alliance.
The organization is committed to growing the arts in the greater Acworth community.
The art center is located at 4425 Cherokee St. in a restored historic building that is connected to one of the city’s earliest African-American businesses. Art at the Park House will host art exhibits, as well as offer classes taught by local artists for children and adults. A small works exhibit will be featured through Jan. 27.
The city of Acworth donated the space for the nonprofit to use as its home. The nonprofit will rely on membership fees, sponsors, donations, grants, class fees, fundraisers and the help of dedicated volunteers.

“We look forward to sharing the works of many local artists with the community,” said Cathy Green, the executive director.
“Thank you to the city of Acworth, Parks and Recreation, and everyone who has been involved in this project,” Green said. “Their vision and commitment to preserve and honor the city’s important history and bring the arts to Acworth is greatly appreciated.”
A reception to open the center was held Dec. 2. The center is open noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, except for holidays.
