Acworth Celebrates MLK and Unity

February 2, 2018

A crowd gathered Jan. 15 at Bethel A.M.E. Church to participate in a Unity Walk to Zion Baptist Church for a service to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.

Mayor Tommy Allegood welcomed the group to Zion Baptist. The church’s pastor, Rev. Frank Johnson, lead a prayer.

Pam Moore sang “Safe in His Arms.”

A message was delivered by Pastor Cheno Echevarria, with Greater Church.

Ruth Njoroge and Jacob Robinson with Acworth Achievers Mentoring and After School Program delivered a presentation. After the church service, the youth organization hosted a MLK Day service activity at Roberts School Community and Education Center to collect toiletries for senior adults at an Acworth housing community. The organization is lead by Mychal Lewis, the city’s recreation coordinator.
